Why is jack bauer awesome
No plot twist was too severe, no character was safe. And while the US audience were slow to appreciate 24 , we loved it in the UK, with DVD sales strong enough to convince Fox to commission more episodes of a series they had planned to axe. But somewhere along the line, 24 went bad. Not Nina Myers bad, but bad nonetheless. It was always implausible. However, with time running out, Heller decided to surrender to Al-Harazi's demands and got Jack to help him. Jack reluctantly did so and learned that Heller had decided to pardon him for his past actions, including the actions of the day, so that he could go home.
At the last moment, Chloe was able to hack the drone feed with help of information from Simone and save Heller. Jack killed Margot and successfully retrieved the override device before heading back to the CIA station. From there, Jack learned from a DOD technician that the override device is not only capable of hacking the drones, but also the military weapons systems by breaking through its firewall security.
However, the head of CIA London Station, Steve Navarro, fled with the override device after being identified by Jack's former CIA colleague as Navarro was the one who had sent his former covert operative and professional assassin James Harman to kill analyst Jordan Reed after he discovered Navarro's role in framing Adam Morgan for selling state secrets to China.
Cross and Chloe escaped with the device and Navarro demanded full immunity for his help. Jack and Kate were able to trick him into giving them a tracking code for the device, but Jack was waylaid by Russian soldiers on the way and arrived too late to find Open Cell slaughtered, Chloe missing and a voice recording revealing his old enemy Cheng Zhi is alive.
Cheng used the device to make an American submarine sink a Chinese carrier to push the United States and China into a full-scale war as revenge for China betraying him and provided benefit to Russia. Stolnavich died, but Jack was able to locate a phone with information leading to Cheng's whereabouts.
Cheng took Audrey hostage in order to force Jack to let him go, but Kate convinced him to go after Cheng anyway while she rescued Audrey. Both Jack and Belcheck raided Cheng's ship with Chloe's help, but along the way, Jack learned that Audrey was killed despite Kate's best efforts. Enraged, Jack ruthlessly killed all of Cheng's men and brutally beat him savagely.
Jack was able to transmit proof of Cheng's survival to Heller and stopped the war at the last minute, then decapitating Cheng with a katana to avenge Audrey's death. After discovering Chloe had gone, Jack got a call from the Russians, demanding that he exchange himself for her. Shortly before am the next morning, Jack met with the Russians outside London and surrendered himself to save Chloe. The Russians assured him that they only wanted him and would now leave his family alone and he flew off to Moscow to be punished for his rampage during Day 8.
Teri was Bauer's wife during Day 1. Sometime before, Jack and Teri were separated, with Jack living else where and Teri living at their house with Kim. Both eventually reconciled and Jack moved back in. During the events of Day 1, Jack risked everything to save Teri and their daughter. When Teri revealed that she was pregnant with his second child, Jack was became extremely happy to the point of tears. While Teri managed to survive most of the day's events, she was tragically shot and killed by Nina Myers.
Her death and the loss of their unborn child would haunt Jack for years, causing him to quit from CTU and go into a depression. It wasn't until the events of Day 2 that he put aside his grief and went back to work at CTU, but even then he was still affected by her loss. This eventually led him to offer Kim a job at CTU as he did not want to lose her as he did Teri, going so far as to warn Chase Edmunds, his partner and Kim's boyfriend at the time, that he didn't want to lose her like he did Teri.
Even after he killed her assailant, Nina Myers, Jack would continue to feel responsible for Teri's death. Kim was Jack's daughter. Her loyalty seemed to lie more with her father when her parents were separated.
She had been living with her mother during their separation and when her mother was murdered, she and Jack from thereon had a very strained relationship. Jack was against her relationship with Chase Edmunds, but accepted it, and after the events of Day 3, Kim relationship with Jack got better.
But when Jack faked his death at the end of Day 4, Kim didn't know the truth, and fell into depression. During Day 5, Jack revealed himself to her alive, but Kim said she can't have him in his life, which she would later regret.
During Day 7, she traveled to Washington D. She apologized to him about, what she said during Day 5, and was willing to help him after he was infected with the prion variant, but he wouldn't let her endanger herself for him. However, Kim went through with therapy, saying that she was not ready to let him go, mainly because she wanted her daughter, Teri to have a grandfather.
During Day 8, Kim asked if Jack would move back to L. He happily accepted, but out of Kim's urging, he remained behind to solve the day's crisis. This was the last time Kim saw Jack alive. Tony was Jack's comrade prior to Day 7, where Tony became a terrorist. Their relationship was rocky at first due to them having both had a history with the same woman Nina Myers but their bond grew stronger when it was revealed that Nina was a terrorist. Jack and Tony crossed heads frequently but by Day 4 Jack considered him the only person he could trust.
Tony was killed, revived in secret, and then became a mercenary in order to kill Alan Wilson for his role in the murders of Michelle Dessler and their unborn child. Nina was a co-worker of Jack's whom he had a relationship with during his separation from Teri. During Day 1, she was considered to be Jack's most loyal and trusted ally, even going so far as to defend him after he shot her point blank. Their relationship completely changed when she was uncovered as a mole within CTU and murdered his wife and unborn child, causing Jack to quit CTU and go into a depression.
Upon seeing during Day 2, Jack became disgusted by the sight of her and made every effort to hold back his desire for revenge as Nina was the only one who could help them locate the nuclear bomb in Los Angeles. Even when she held him hostage, Jack was willing to sacrifice himself in exchange for Nina giving up the presumed location of the bomb.
During Day 3, Jack made every effort to hold back his desire for revenge against Nina and tried to convince her that he was done with CTU, going so far as to accept a passionate kiss from her to keep up the ruse.
He finally got his revenge after Nina attempted to escape CTU, saving his daughter before executing Nina to avenge his wife's death. Coincidentally, Jack killed Nina in the same room, where Nina had killed Teri. Upon meeting Michelle in Day 2 , Jack formed an instantaneous friendship with her, which lasted until she died at the start of Day 5.
Jack has a complicated friendship with Chloe. In the beginning, Jack was prone to using Chloe to engage in unauthorized use of CTU computer resources for Jack without his superior's permission. The relationship was one-sided initially, with Jack using Chloe and demanding that Chloe risk her career on blind faith regarding Jack being right.
Chloe would reluctantly follow Jack's demands and ride out the problems they would make for her with her boss when Jack's requests from her yielded the results he promised they would yield. His relationship with Chloe changed dramatically in terms of her willingness to help him during Day 4.
When Andrew Paige was kidnapped by terrorists after accidentally discovering vital information regarding their schemes, Chloe turned to Jack for help. However, Jack shocked Chloe when he told her that he was willing to let her friend die rather than risk letting the terrorists know he was onto them. After several minutes of pleading and begging, Jack gave in and saved Andrew.
This action led to Chloe becoming completely loyal to Jack, to the point of being willing to be fired from her job at CTU when she refused to stop aiding Jack who, at the time, was no longer a member of CTU. Chloe walked away from her job but not before telling her boss she was going to quit anyway but later that day was summoned back to CTU by Michelle Dessler who took over running CTU halfway through the day and asked to return to work since none of the other CTU employees were as skilled as Chloe was.
Jack's complete trust in Chloe led her to being one of only four people who knew Jack faked his death, and she has shown great concern for him since, passing information to Jack while in exile, and going to him first when David Palmer and Michelle Dessler were killed.
Since Jack's return on Day 6 , she has helped him on several operations which would have cost her her job, including providing schematics to a suitcase nuclear bomb so Jack could hand a component over to the Chinese in exchange for Audrey Raines. In the last episode of the series on Day 8 , Jack - on the run once again - asked Chloe to make sure his family was safe.
He then thanked her for having covered his back all these years. During Day 9 , Chloe aided Jack once again, but after the Al-Harazis were dead and their plot thwarted, went back to Open Cell though she said it was good to work with him again. Despite this, she still retained loyalty to Jack and aided him again stopping Cheng Zhi , telling Jack that everything that had happened was her fault and she wanted to redeem herself for her mistakes.
Despite Jack's reluctance, he agreed to let her help with Chloe claiming she was the only friend he had left. After Chloe was captured by the Russians, Jack willingly turned himself in to them to save her, telling her that she was his best friend and leaving Belcheck to look after her. In the following hours Kate saw many things about Jack, and began to have feelings for him.
Their relationship quickly turned into mutual trust and after Day 2 Jack and Kate began dating. However, Jack's job at CTU caused their relationship to end, but they separated in good terms. They quickly became close and fell in love, but during the events of Day 4, Audrey began to see Jack's true side, and wasn't sure she could handle it.
After Jack accidentally caused the death Audrey's separated husband Paul, it seemed to end their relationship, but she was devastated, when she heard that Jack had been killed, which wasn't true.
When Jack returned during Day 5, they reconciled, but Jack was taken to China. Audrey went after him, but was caught too, and tortured by Cheng Zhi. Eventually Jack decided to stay away from her for her protection. Audrey later recovered and married Mark Boudreau. But when Jack resurfaced during Day 9, they met again and it seemed they would rekindle their relationship again, but Audrey was killed by Cheng Zhi 's man. Initially, Renee and Jack had partnered up in Day 7 , looking for Jack's old friend Tony Almeida , who had resurfaced and was now working with a terrorist organization, despite being presumed dead.
She was horrified at his willingness to do whatever was necessary to follow a lead. However as the day progressed she began to see the necessity behind Jack's actions and realized that the only way to bring down Alan Wilson, the main conspirator for the events of the day, would be to act as Jack would have done.
She was shot in Jack's apartment by Pavel Tokarev, a sniper working for Mikhail Novakovich and Yuri Suvarov, and died in the hospital minutes later. Renee's death affected Jack deeply as they led him on a downward spiral, willing to do whatever it took to get revenge against the Russians and ultimately, made him an enemy of both the Russian and American governments. At the start of the day, Kate was the only one who suspected that Bauer allowed himself to be captured and came close to apprehending him until the intervention of Belchek.
She later became one of few people who believed that Jack had come across plot that Margot Al-Harazi was planning on taking control of ten U. While Jack was initially reluctant to trust her, she later convinced him that she really did believe him and that she would continue his work while he was in custody. Impressed by her skills and dedication, Jack later requested her as his partner when he was granted provisional status as an agent.

This was because Ford was the show's official sponsor during the first four seasons. From Season 5, Toyota became the official sponsor. As a result, Jack was seen with a personal silver Toyota Tundra at the start of Day 5.
He also drove a dark blue Tundra owned by Tundra in Day 6. In Day 8, Jack drove a Chevrolet Malibu as American car manufacturer as Chevrolet had now become the official sponsor. Jack's badge number was rarely seen because CTU agents rarely flashed or wore their badges all the time like other American law enforcement officers.
The one time it could be spotted was the Season 3 premiere, where it was displayed as The number was revealed while pulling Jack's file from his time as an undercover agent in Ramon Salazar's cartel.
Jack's employee number as seen on his file was X. As for more personal details, he was 5' 11'' tall, and weighed pounds, with green eyes. Four of Jack's phone numbers were revealed on the show. The first number was , as seen on Day 4.
This appeared on Agent Drake's phone as he tried calling Jack while checking out Mitch Anderson's apartment. Also on Day 4, a civilian who encountered the Air Force One wreckage was patched over to Jack when he called the police and the number was I believe in That said, they should absolutely not make any more Absolutely not.
Never, ever, ever. CTU, ticking clocks, the entire concept of a soft perimeter; all of it should be parcelled up with packing tape and kicked into an active volcano. I say this with nothing but affection. But, guess what: there is probably going to be more If everything goes to plan, there will soon be a brand new, open-ended story about how a young Jack Bauer became the clench-jawed super-patriotic pro-torture superhero we all know and love.
