The home in the series is described as Glenbogle Castle. Ardverikie House is a stunning example of 19th Century Scottish architecture. The land belonged to Clan Macpherson, their chief at the time, Ewen Macpherson then leased the land in to the Marquess of Abercorn.

In the television series it is located in and around the Cairngorms, Badenoch and Strathspey, with Ben Nevis replaced by the fictional Ben Bogle. In real life the Ardverikie Estate was used for filming and to profide the backdrop for the series.
